DEBRA's East Kilbride charity shop has moved!

The DEBRA charity shop at 36 Princes Mall in East Kilbride has relocated to Unit 30 Olympia in East Kilbride Shopping Centre (G74 1PG). The new look shop was officially opened on Wednesday 25 February at 11.00am by the Lord Provost of South Lanarkshire, Councillor Eileen Logan.

Lord Provost Logan was joined at the opening by Regional Manager Claire Orr, Area Manager Agnes Vallelly and members of the Scotland retail team.

Area Manager Agnes Vallelly said: "A big thank you goes to everyone who came together to help re-organise the shop. I'd like to thank the local community for their support and we are delighted that the Lord Provost took time out of her busy schedule to officially open our new shop."

Are you having a clear out? We desperately need your unwanted items.

Furniture items, electrical goods, clothing, shoes, handbags, bric-a-brac, books, CDs and DVDs, are all urgently required to help those living with Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Researchers have found that in the past year we left an astonishing 1.7billion items of clothing unworn - that's an average of 28 items for every man, woman and child in Britain.

A third of all unwanted clothes - 430,000 tons of them - end up in landfill when they could be sent to charity shops or given a new lease of life, according to Wrap, the waste reduction body.

Maureen Nickson, DEBRA's Director of Retail, said: "Money raised by DEBRA shops enables DEBRA to offer specialist care and support to people and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa and to search for effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

"We are encouraging our supporters to donate unwanted items to help raise much needed funds for the charity. We are always looking for good quality items to sell in our shops and offer a FREE furniture collection service. Please call the shop on 01355 245 648 for your free furniture collection."
