The fight to cure EB

At DEBRA, we can’t change the future of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) in an instant. But we do know that an instant can help change the future of people on a life-long journey with EB.

We believe that anyone can effect change with one small action:

  • A single coin spent in one of our charity shops could…
  • Help fund the development of practical resources, that help…
  • Encourage even more people to learn about EB and its impact, compelling them to…
  • Spread the word about the disease, our shops, and initiatives, which…
  • Increases interest and investment into our services and medical research, which…
  • Gives us a larger opportunity to develop and expand the DEBRA offering, which means…
  • Even more people with EB can access support and comfort when they need it the most.

Shop with DEBRA: DEBRA membersLet us never underestimate the simple things we can do to spread ripples of hope for people living with EB.

Let us all take one small action to fight EB so that, one day, EB no longer has any fight left to give.

#SpreadYourWings to help us begin… the DEBRA effect.

As a person with EB, I think the DEBRA shops are fantastic. The money raised goes directly towards funding much needed support for those of us with this awful condition. DEBRA delivers what it says, the help and support is amazing. Thanks to all the volunteers, staff and customers of DEBRA shops, the money you help raise is very much appreciated.

Belinda, with Dystrophic EB*

Protect our planet - sustainable shopping

Shop with DEBRA: Ella Bardoe with a pre-loved item of clothingAccording to the UN, the clothing industry emits more greenhouse gases than all the world’s planes and ships, and 80 per cent of their emissions stem from producing clothes. Just one pair of jeans requires on average 7,500 litres of water to make, equivalent to the amount of water the average person drinks over 7 years.

In 2019 DEBRA recycled nearly one million tonnes of textiles that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

By shopping with us or donating to one of our stores, you are helping to find a new home for pre-loved items and protecting the planet by ensuring quality items are re-used. Something you no longer need could be the perfect fit for someone else.

If you are passionate about sustainability and love to buy from charity stores, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch: [email protected].

Connect with others

Many of our customers tell us how they enjoy conversations with other customers, staff and volunteers in store. We are committed to providing excellent customer service, so if you are looking for a something specific or need help with an item, our committed team are happy to help.

I would like to give my sincere thanks to your three staff at your Ashford shop in Kent. They went beyond the line of duty to help me select furniture for my 105 year old mother. I would recommend anyone to visit your shop and talk to the staff. They certainly beat the staff in other charity furniture shops.
