Mason White challenges the boxing community to help him raise funds for EB nurses

Updated 26th May 2020

Inspired by so many amazing fundraisers during lockdown, one of our #FightEB heroes, 11 year old Mason is taking on his own lockdown challenge! Mason has Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and endures pain constantly, needing around the clock care. His mum, Kerry say's "The slightest knock or rub could tear his skin off, but he's determined to do these daily challenges to raise money for DEBRA UK, I'm so proud."

Mason’s favourite sports are boxing and football and his hero is Tyson Fury, which is where his fighting spirit comes from. Each day under lockdown, Mason is completing a challenge which is good for his health.

In fact, Mason decided not only to do his own challenges, but also to challenge the boxing community to join him! Watch the moment Mason and mum, Kerry challenged boxers to do the splits in an interview with Dev Sahni from Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions below. Can boxers do the splits?

Mason also sent out a challenge to do more than 30 sit ups in 1 minute. DEBRA UK Vice President Graeme Souness took him on, watch the clip on our social media pages.

Mason is raising money for the EB nurses, funded by DEBRA UK at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), they work tirelessly to support people with EB, as well as assist with research into effective treatments, and ultimately a cure for EB.

Kerry say's "Although it’s a long journey up to GOSH, Mase always looks forwards to seeing the Nurses as they make him feel truly special."

Good luck Mason, you truly are a #FightEB hero.
