New shops on the block!

It has been a busy few weeks for the retail division of DEBRA as we saw three new shops open their doors.

On Saturday 3rd September, The Worshipful Mayor of Ashford, Councillor George Koowaree officially opened DEBRA’s 12th Furniture and Electrical (F&E) store in Ashford, Kent.

Gary Adamou, Area Manager for F&E said, "This is our 12th F&E store to date and we are thrilled with the first day's sales and also by the number of local people who turned-out to wish us well. If we can keep the sales at this level we will be able to provide the recurring income needed to fund life changing research into treatments with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for EB."

On Friday 16th September two new traditional shops opened in Scotland. The new shop in Milngavie opened its doors at 9am and at 11am Councillor Stewart Miller proudly cut the ribbon at the new DEBRA shop in Clarkston.

Both shops specialise in selling good quality furniture, bric a brac, clothing, accessories, household items, books, toys and media items.

Director of Retail Paul Guest said, "We are delighted with the new openings, all of the shops look amazing and we encourage the local community to pop along to the shops and see what's on offer, you'll be surprised! All donations welcomed.

"Setting up the shops ready for opening was a big team effort. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers and everyone involved for all their hard work and efforts. We are always looking for volunteers to help in the charity shops, we are a friendly bunch and new helpers will receive a warm welcome. Volunteers generally work one shift a week with hours to suit them."
