Organising your own charity fundraising event is the perfect way to help raise money for DEBRA – do it in your own time, on a date that suits you and in your own way!

Below are a few fundraising ideas to inspire you or download our fundraising ideas leaflet.

• Be brave and organise a sponsored charity event – think swims, slims, head shaves…!

• Organise a tombola or raffle at your community group, work or school

• Hold a charity quiz night and get teams to enter. Good for the competitive fundraisers out there!

• Pull all the stops out and organise an evening fundraising event, such as a dinner dance, barn dance or black tie ball

• Bake cakes and take them into your place of work in exchange for a donation

• Organise a dress down day or a fancy dress day

• Design your own personal challenge.

Once you’ve decided on your fundraising event contact one of the Fundraising Team to register your support and order fundraising materials…then spread the word about your fundraiser!

Fundraising Tips

• Create an online fundraising page through JustGiving then email friends, family and colleagues the link so it’s easy for people to sponsor you. You can share the page on Facebook and Twitter too

  • If you use another fundraising platform, other than JustGiving, please contact [email protected] to ensure that we can fully support you throughout your fundraising

• Ask your closest friends and family to sponsor you first. They’re likely to give more generously and set the trend for other donations

• Many companies will match what you raise so find out if your employer does Matched Giving

• Ask your sponsors to Gift Aid their donation if they are UK tax payers. This means that DEBRA receives an extra 25p for every £1 donated and it doesn’t cost you or your sponsors any extra

• Print one of the DEBRA template fundraising posters and put them up at your place of work, community group or school
