Graphic of a chain of DNA

We recently received the exciting news that DEBRA will be one of 80 AMRC charities to receive funding for early-career researchers. This will help us support the next generation of EB researchers and progress with our programme of world-class, innovative research into therapies and cure(s).

After a long campaign by AMRC, the fund was administered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and comprises £15 million from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and £5 million from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC.)

Dr Sagair Hussain, Director of Research at DEBRA, said: “We'd like to thank AMRC for campaigning to make this possible. We are thrilled to receive this funding for early-career researchers. Investing in the next generation of EB researchers is vital if we are to achieve our ambition to accelerate research into EB that will deliver improvements in the quality of life for EB patients whilst seeking a cure(s) for all types of EB.”

The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting medical research charities in saving and improving lives through research and innovation.
