Privacy policy

DEBRA is committed to ensuring the security of personal details of its supporters. Supporters' personal and financial details are held on a secure server and DEBRA takes steps to keep data safe from unauthorised access, loss and destruction. Any data held in hard copy form is shredded before disposal.

Information we collect

We collect information about which pages on our website are accessed and when, information volunteered by you, such as survey information, email address and your preferred means of communication.

We will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, unless we have your permission.

DEBRA does not share mailing lists with other organisations and offers supporters opportunities to opt-out of its mailing lists when asking for contact details. Supporters can also remove themselves from mailing lists or update their details by emailing debranews@debra.org.uk

How we use cookies

Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a website and are stored in the cookies directory of your computer.

We use cookies along with web analytic tools to see how our site is used and to help us provide a better service. In addition we collect non-identifiable information to improve our service and tailor your visits to our website. This includes collecting information about your behaviour on our website in order to show you ads on third party websites – such as Google – across the internet that we think would be of interest to you as well as demographic data. We use the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites – including Google – to previous visitors to our site. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the DEBRA website.

Any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

You can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Preferences page, and if you want to you can opt out of interest-based advertising entirely by cookie settings.

The use of cookies does not give us access to your computer and they cannot be used to identify an individual user.

Online transactions

DEBRA uses Sage Pay Pal to process one off donations and shop transactions, and Rapidata to process direct debit donations. All online transactions take place via a secure server.
