Big ben houses of parliament

DEBRA is encouraged with the news that an Early Day Motion (EDM) has been submitted to parliament supporting our request for government funding to accelerate clinical trials and secure approved treatments for people living with EB in the UK.

EDMs are used to put on record the views of individual MPs or to draw attention to specific events or campaigns. By attracting the signatures of other MPs, they can be used to demonstrate the level of parliamentary support for a particular cause or point of view.

There are no set rules, but the more signatures an EDM attracts the more likely the topic is to be debated in parliament. Our EDM already has the support of a number of MPs and we will proactively reach out to other MPs over the coming weeks to encourage their support as we strive to secure the government backing we need to secure treatments that will help stop the pain of EB.

The EDM is available to view on the Parliament website.
