DEBRA Golf Society starts a new season

The DEBRA golf season finally got underway at St George’s Hill with two visits on 30 April and 12 May. 100 of our loyal supporters enjoyed the chilly winds but bright sunshine on this magnificent course in Weybridge, Surrey.

Led by our captain for 2021, Simon Pollard, the new season’s fundraising got off to a great start, with over £16,000 raised over the two days.

Simon has also kicked off a Golf Giving initiative for 2021 which we hope will raise more money throughout the season to help the charity to recover from the major impact to our fundraising due to the pandemic. If you would like to help, you will find Simon’s donation page here.

We regretfully saw the sad passing of our good friend and Golf President Peter Alliss late last year - he will be missed. Peter introduced us to Steve Rider twenty years ago. Steve has become a regular at DEBRA Golf days and is a great supporter of the charity   It is a natural passing of the baton for Steve to take over as President of the Golf Society and we are delighted to have him on board.

Although we are currently restricted in what we are permitted to do at our golf days, we are still looking forward to a full season of events. Many are already sold out, but some team and individual spaces are still available at fabulous courses such as Woburn, Little Aston, Royal Birkdale, Bearwood Lakes and The Berkshire.

We do hope you can make it to one of our events this season and it would be great if you could introduce someone new to the charity.

Let’s hope for a great golfing year and a fundraising one to match it!
