Artist Ben Mosley paints in front of room of guests at The Brewery London

We're delighted to announce that our annual Fight Night event has raised over £180,000 to help #FightEB, making it DEBRA's most successful Fight Night in 15 years!

The event took place on Friday 17th November, supported by legendary boxing manager and DEBRA Vice-President, Frank Warren in association with Queensberry Promotions. Frank Warren is in his 18th year of hosting the event for DEBRA.

Watch the video below for the action-packed highlights from the night!

The evening started with a champagne reception on arrival at the stunning The Brewery venue on Chiswell Street, London.

Once seated, guests were shown a film in memory of Myra Ali, a beloved member of the EB community who died last month on the 18th October. Myra was a regular speaker at DEBRA events like Fight Night, helping to spread awareness of EB by sharing her story living with recessive dystrophic EB.

Our Vice-President and host for the evening, Frank Warren, then took to the ring to introduce the evening, paying tribute to Myra and encouraging guests to "dig deep" to help fund research and nursing for people living with EB.

The only way we can fight this is with money. I personally feel, having met Myra, and going back years ago, Jonny, he was in the documentary 'The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off'. To beat this, to help them. Some of us are more fortunate than others and the ones that are more fortunate can make a huge difference. Every penny helps. And that's what we're here tonight to do, to raise some money.

Guests were then served a gourmet three-course dinner with wine, before 17 year old Fazeel Irfan, joined Frank Warren in the ring for a Q&A about living with recessive dystrophic EB. Fazeel spoke eloquently about the challenges he faces living with EB and how he stays smiling despite the immense pain he faces on a daily basis, prompting a well-deserved standing ovation from everyone in the room.

The worst thing for me is the pain, sometimes I won't be able to get up and move a single muscle, I won't be able to get out of bed, walk down the stairs, I won't be able to pour myself a single glass of water…It is so hard and so exhausting to live with this condition because it means every single thing you think about in your life will be affected whether you like it or not…I believe together, one day we will find a cure for this condition.
