April was a busy month in Scotland for the fundraising team as we held two events for our BE the difference for EB appeal!  

On Friday 19th April, guests attended the DEBRA UK Ladies Day at the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr Racecourse - a fundraising spectacular and the most glamourous gathering of the year.  

We took over a trackside marquee at the finishing post with a perfect spot to view the racing and soak up the atmosphere. The wonderful Jane McCarry, TV star and comic, hosted the day whilst guests enjoyed a three-course meal, afternoon tea, and private betting facilities.

There were plenty of happy faces all round, even if there weren’t too many winners on the horses! We look forward to hosting the event again next year for another day full of glamour and fundraising for the EB community.  

On Wednesday 22nd April, we also held the annual charity golf day at the beautiful Loch Lomond Golf Club. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side, but that didn’t dampen the guests’ spirits as they raised an amazing £25,000 for our BE the difference for EB appeal.

We were joined by DEBRA UK Ambassador Emma Dodds, as well as the following celebrity guests who entertained both on the course and at the dinner afterwards: Neil Lennon (Football Coach and former player), Frank McAvennie (former Scottish football player), Ryan Wilson (Rugby Union player), Gregor Townsend (Scottish Rugby Union player), Eilidh Barbour (TV presenter and reporter), Neil McCann (former Scottish football player and manager), Rory Hamilton(sports commentator & TV presenter) and Bobby Bluebell (songwriter). 

A huge congratulations to Ryan Wilson’s team who took home the prize on the day, Neil Lennon for nearest the pin and Ross Coull who won longest drive.

Also, a massive thank you to Alba Facilities Services Ltd who have supported us with this event for many years, and to everyone who came along to support us and helped to BE the difference for EB.

The team in Scotland are now gearing up for the next big fundraising event: DEBRA FEST 2024!
