Did you know that there are many benefits to volunteering, one important benefit is how it can greatly improve mental wellbeing (NHS England, November 2018). The act of giving your time stimulates the reward areas of the brain leading to enhanced feelings of happiness and self-worth. Other benefits include:
A study by The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) found that 77% of volunteers reported that it had improved their mental health, and 69% of 18-24 year olds reported that volunteering improved their employment prospects.
There are lots of things to do in our DEBRA retail stores such as designing displays and window dressings, labelling items for sale, customer service or stock taking.
We couldn’t raise vital funds without the support of our volunteers. Our wide range of volunteering opportunities and flexible approach mean that you decide exactly how and where you give your time.
