In October, DEBRA UK hosted two major events, a Ladies Butterfly Lunch in Scotland, and a dinner with DEBRA UK Vice President Graeme Souness and Chef Richard Corrigan in London. A combined £60,000 was raised from both events which directly contributes towards the A Life Free of pain appeal target.

Ladies Butterfly Lunch

On Sunday 1st October, the DEBRA UK Ladies Butterfly Lunch took place in the stunning ballroom at Cameron House on Loch Lomond. The event attracted a new audience of supporters to the charity, and it was lovely to see some familiar faces too.

Two hundred ladies attended, and it was a fun-filled day full of fundraising. The day began with handbag bingo, with a Kate Spade tote generously gifted to us by John Lewis. Harvey Nichols also supplied beautiful party bags for each guest.

ROX Jewellers supported us with a brilliant fundraising game - ROX in a Box. Everyone bought a ROX Jewellers Box and at 3pm, guests opened their boxes, and one lucky winner took home a beautiful sparkly necklace!

Ishga Skincare gifted us a brilliant prize for each table, and we also had a raffle and auction on the day.

Scottish River City actress Gayle Telfer Stevens hosted the day, which included performances by Proud Scotland Entertainer of the Year, Allan Jay, and brilliant ABBA tribute band ‘ABBA Cadabra.’

The event raised £15,000 which will enable DEBRA UK to fund more drug repurposing trials to help #StopThePain for those living with EB.

Many thanks to the event attendees for contributing to this success, and a huge thank you to our generous sponsors.

Dinner with Graeme Souness and Richard Corrigan

Graeme Souness and chef, Richard Corrigan

On Thursday 12th October, a fundraising dinner with DEBRA UK Vice President Graeme Souness and two Michelin-starred Chef Richard Corrigan, hosted by Reed Smith, took place on the 33rd Floor of their offices in London.

The evening began with a drinks reception, followed by a delicious dinner crafted by Richard Corrigan himself. After dinner, a Q&A took place with Graeme and award-winning English sports journalist, author and broadcaster, Ian Stafford. A silent auction also ran throughout the evening where guests were invited to bid on items such as Taylor Swift tickets, and luxury holidays.

The dinner, which raised just over £45,000, was an extremely successful event with great company, and fantastic support for people living with EB.

Many thanks to the hosts Reed Smith for the superb venue, and to Baxter Storey for providing the food, wine and securing the brilliant Chef Richard Corrigan.

Lastly, a huge thank you to those to attended the dinner and for your invaluable support.

2024 events

The planning for DEBRA UK events in 2024 is well underway, and we are excited to see more of you coming along to support those living with EB. Major events are such an important part of our annual fundraising activity and have a huge impact on our fundraising target.
