2.6 Challenge raises over £8,500 to support the EB Community

A huge thank you to all of our fundraising heroes who took part in the 2.6 challenge, you have helped to raise £8,500 to support the EB Community.

It has been great to see the different challenges, including: running a relay marathon, doing 26 laps of the garden, chipping 26 golf balls, running 2.6 miles each day for a week, racing 26 toy cars, completing 26 rugby passes and more!

At DEBRA we are committed to providing members with life changing support whenever they need it and this need has increased during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Some people with EB are shielding, which is the most stringent form of self-isolation and have struggled with basic and urgent needs so our EB Community Support team has been helping them through this difficult time.

“Life came to an abrupt end for me because of the virus, one day I was working, the next I was not able to go out due to my EB. I struggled to get food and my income suddenly stopped, I was scared and didn’t know what to do until Amelia called. Her support meant everything, she arranged a food parcel and helped me get financial support, I now feel mentally and physically much better.” Inderjeet, DEBRA Member.

With our retail stores closed and many events cancelled, we are very grateful to our supporters for going the extra (2.6) mile to help us continue supporting the EB community whilst we also fund research projects to find treatments and ultimately a cure. THANK YOU!
