DEBRA ambassador Lucy sharing her story

DEBRA UK has many fantastic and inspirational ambassadors, including the amazing Lucy Beall-Lott. Lucy has RDEB (recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa - see here for information on the different types of EB) and her mum was told when she was born that she wouldn’t make it to aged 18. But Lucy hasn’t let her condition stop her from achieving her dreams. She has written for The Huffington Post, appeared in Vogue magazine, presented a TED talk, studied at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and is currently studying at the prestigious St Andrews University in Scotland.

Recently Lucy took some time to talk to Dom and Harry from The Brothers Trust about what EB is, how the condition impacts her life, why she chooses to show her scars, and why it's so important to raise awareness for the funding of vital EB research. So grab a cuppa, take a seat and watch her speak candidly about her life experiences and her number one mission to raise awareness of EB.

Children with EB grow up with pain, but they don't have to grow up with the social burden I did. There are still many people far and wide who don’t know what EB is, it’s so important to raise awareness. - Lucy Beall-Lott.
