New shops on the block!

It has been a busy few weeks for the retail division of DEBRA as we saw our first three new shops of the year open their doors.

On Saturday 10th January we opened our new 'House Clearance' shop at 134/138 Buxton Road, Heaviley in Stockport (SK2 6PL). The shop offers a house clearance service, together with a drive in, drop off point for furniture and household goods. It will be officially opened by Stockport MP Anne Coffey on Friday 6 February at 11.30am, all welcome.

On Monday 19 January, Cllr Stephen Legg and Northampton Town FC player Ian Morris officially opened the new DEBRA charity shop at Unit 7, The Boulevard in Weston Favell, Northampton (NN3 8JL). A very busy centre with free parking in front of the shop.

The opening also played host to a number of special guests including DEBRA Trustee Scott O'Sullivan and DEBRA's Regional Fundraising Manager Andrea Newman.

On Wednesday 21 January The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Borough, Cllr Roger Gardiner and his wife Tricia were special guests at the opening of our fantastic new shop in Chineham, Basingstoke. They were greeted by DEBRA CEO Ben Merrett and DEBRA Director of HR, Louise Westphalen. The shop situated at Unit 21/22 Chineham Shopping Centre in Chineham (RG24 8BQ) enjoyed a very successful first day.

All shops specialise in selling good quality furniture and other large items. As well as furniture, the new shops will have a good selection of bric a brac, clothing, accessories, household items, books, toys and media items.

Director of Retail Maureen Nickson said, "We are delighted with the new openings, all the shops look amazing and we encourage the local community to pop along to the shops and see what's on offer, you'll be surprised! All donations welcomed.

"Setting up the shops ready for opening was a big team effort. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers and everyone involved for all their hard work and efforts. We are always looking for volunteers to help in the charity shops, we are a friendly bunch and new helpers will receive a warm welcome. Volunteers generally work one shift a week with hours to suit them."
