What’s different about the Rare Diseases Centre at St. Thomas’ Hospital?

Have you heard about the new Rare Diseases Centre at St Thomas’ Hospital, which featured in the news recently?

The centre, which DEBRA part-funded, enables the specialist EB clinical team there to provide the best possible care in an environment specially designed with the needs of the EB Community in mind.

Now adults living with EB can access all the services, healthcare professionals and facilities they need in one place.

People suffering from EB and the clinicians working with EB were involved in every stage of the design process to ensure the facilities were truly fit for purpose – right down to trying the waiting room chairs and voting on what was most comfortable.

Housing all appointments with different medical specialists in one place means the clinics can run more efficiently and more patients can be seen on one day.

There’s also a state-of-the-art video conferencing suite to allow healthcare professionals to work more closely with patients’ local health services and share expertise with colleagues around the world.

Take a virtual tour around the centre.

It’s only thanks to generous support from members of the public that DEBRA is able to fund projects like these.

Please give now or call the Fundraising Team on 01344 771961 to start fundraising to #FightEB and make a real difference to people suffering from EB.
