DEBRA wins Kingston Smith's Creative Vision Award

DEBRA is delighted to have won the Kingston Smith Creative Vision Award and is thoroughly looking forward to working with Kingston Smith and the creative team at Bournemouth University to make an animated EB awareness video valued at £150,000, which will be a great way to explain how EB affects everyday life to the public. DEBRA would like to congratulate the other charity winner, Re~Cycle, who collect unwanted bicycles and ship them to organisations in Africa.

Ben Merrett, DEBRA's Chief Executive Officer said: "We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of two charities to win an animated film to raise awareness of the devastating genetic skin condition EB. As a charity, DEBRA provides much needed support to 5,000 people in the U.K. who are afflicted by this complex condition and this animation will enable us to reach audiences in a very impactful way that otherwise would not have been possible."

The films will be created in partnership with Kingston Smith and Bournemouth University’s BFX Festival. DEBRA hopes to see the finished animation in the autumn.
