Marketing and Communications Manager

Reports to: Director of Fundraising and Communications

Location: DEBRA Head Office - Crowthorne

Hours: 35 hpw (12 Months' Fixed Contract)

Salary: £32, 000 - £35, 000

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Communications to lead the Marketing and Communications team to deliver quality communications in line with the Marketing and Communications Strategy through executing the agreed Marketing Plan

Main Activities

Team Management
  • Oversee all communications and marketing activities – including digital, media, own publications, PR, fundraising, retail and internal communication – to maximise stakeholder engagement, understanding of the condition and the profile of the charity.
  • Manage the production of beneficiary focused materials, DEBRA’s publications, key fundraising publications and sign off on other materials produced by different teams.
  • Support all EB Community and fundraising events (e.g. liaising with suppliers, utilising appropriate advertising channels and PR opportunities).
  • Oversee the development of digital assets
Campaign Management
  • Develop and lead on delivering a national, integrated awareness & fundraising campaign with digital at its focus.
  • Manage and work with multiple agencies to reach awareness and fundraising targets.
Other duties
  • Ensure DEBRA’s brand communications acts with consistency and integrity, connect and resonate with our target audiences and that our brand equity is increased through each marketing and communications output.
  • Support senior stakeholders to deliver strategies based on organisational priorities and values.
  • Devise, manage and implement internal communications plans and activities to support brand awareness and loyalty within DEBRA.
  • Manage the agreed Donor Marketing and Communications budgets, reporting regularly on performance.

Person Specification

  • Good understanding of principles and practices of marketing – including PR, media relations, advertising, digital, content and branding – across different platforms to develop and deliver multi-channel campaigns that raise awareness of EB and DEBRA, support income generation and reinforce our brand across all communication touchpoints.
  • Familiar with developing and delivering integrated campaigns with a focus on digital.
  • Experience in the fundamentals of marketing analysis and lead generation marketing.
  • Experience with managing and coaching junior members of staff.
  • Goodunderstanding of Direct and Digital Marketing, Fundraising and Data Protection legislations and guidelines.
  • Charity work experience is desired but not essential.
  • Achievement oriented – ability to set targets, overcome obstacles, and work with enthusiasm, engaged with DEBRA’s vision and purpose.
  • Proactive approach to raising DEBRA’s profile in a structured manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to skilfully negotiate and influence others; communicate effectively with others with a different view point, background and understanding; and build good working relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Efficient IT skills, including knowledge of website, database and social media management. Bonus if familiar with TT Mail and Unicity platforms or computer languages.
  • Adaptability – openness to new ideas and ability to prioritise conflicting demands from multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Positive disposition, demonstrating self-motivation.
