In memory of Catina Bernadis
Miss Catina Bernardis, Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a specialist interest in EB SCC and Hand Surgery, was a key part of the multidisciplinary team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and was considered a specialist in EB surgery around the world. She also supported the development of DEBRA’s Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) for hand surgery and hand therapy, and cancer management, to help professionals understand how to treat someone with EB.
“Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams
I have spread my dreams under your feet
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
– Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven, W.B. Yeats
