Budgeting tips for a relaxing break
Planning a holiday should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Whether you’re heading to one of our holiday homes for a peaceful escape or a fun-filled family adventure, here are some tips to help you enjoy your time while keeping things affordable and stress-free.
We hope you find these general budgeting tips helpful, and you can find more ideas and suggestions for days out specific to each holiday home below too.
Booking outside of peak season
Timing is everything. If you’re able to travel outside of school holidays, you could save on your stay. Even during peak season, our rates are up to 75% lower than the market rate. Off-peak bookings offer the best value, and can save you a further £300!
Share the experience with family and friends
Holidaying with loved ones makes it more joyful and affordable. All our homes sleep six people, so why not invite friends or family to join you? A seven-night stay split between six could cost as little as £50 per person!

Travel wisely – little choices make a big difference
- Fill up your car before you hit the motorway; local and supermarket fuel is cheaper.
- Pack travel snacks to avoid pricey service station food with big markups.
- Bring reusable water bottles; many places refill them for free, and it’s kinder to the planet.
Plan your days with ease
A little planning brings peace of mind. Mapping out your days helps you stay within budget, avoid impulse spending, and make the most of your time.
- Remember that the National Trust have plenty of free sites to visit.
- It’s free to sign up for Discounts for Carers and can give discounts on various days out and entertainment.
