If you have EB yourself, or you have caring responsibilities for someone living with any type of EB and you have recently arrived in the UK and claimed or intend to claim asylum here, then support is available for you, and your family through DEBRA UK.

Support through DEBRA UK

By joining DEBRA UK as member, which is completely free, you will have access to the EB Community Support Team, who can support you with EB information, practical, financial and emotional support, guidance and advocacy. You’ll also be able to access other great benefits including bespoke DEBRA UK events, where you can connect with other members of the EB community, discounted holiday breaks, advocacy, and expert financial information, support, and grants.

The DEBRA EB Community Support Team can also help you with homelessness and housing support.

EB specific information and resources are available in multiple languages via the DEBRA UK website, select your language of choice in the menu at the top of the website homepage.

Non-EB related support is also available to you through the following organisations.

Migrant Help

Migrant Help is a charity that provides independent advice and guidance to assist people seeking asylum in the UK move through and understand the asylum process.

Benefits advice for non-UK citizens

The rules related to benefit entitlement for non-UK citizens is complex and claimants can be incorrectly refused benefits and may need to challenge these refusals. If your situation is complicated and you need to check what you can claim or if your benefit claim has been refused you should get independent advice. You may be able to get help from an organisation that specialises in advising migrants, such as Migrant Help or from a general advice organisation such as Citizens Advice.

Legal advice for non-UK citizens

The Law Centres Network is a UK charity that aims to make the UK a fairer place by helping people get justice, even if they cannot afford a lawyer.
