DEBRA UK attends 2026 DEBRA Care Conference in Los Angeles
DEBRA UK was proud to be represented at this year’s DEBRA Care Conference in Los Angeles, where more than 900 people from across the global epidermolysis bullosa (EB) community came together from 26–29 July.
A delegation from DEBRA UK — Carly Fields, Chair of Trustees; Tony Byrne, CEO; Dr Sagair Hussain, Director of Research; and Claire Mather, Director of Member Services — attended the conference to connect with the wider EB community, hear directly from families and people living with EB, and learn from international experts working to improve EB care, treatment and research.
The event brought together families, people living with EB, healthcare professionals, researchers, and volunteers, all united by a shared goal: improving the lives of everyone affected by EB.
Over four days, attendees heard from leading experts across more than 70 sessions, explored the latest developments in EB research, care, and treatment, and connected with others who understand the EB journey. The conference was a powerful reminder of what is possible when the EB community comes together to share knowledge, strengthen collaboration and drive progress towards better care, better treatments and, ultimately, cures.
Speaking about the conference, DEBRA CEO, Tony Byrne said:
“Events like the DEBRA Care Conference are so important because they bring the global EB community together — families, clinicians, researchers, charities, and advocates — to share knowledge, learn from lived experience and accelerate progress. If we are to stop the pain of EB, we must continue to work together across borders, combining our expertise, energy, and determination to deliver better care, better treatments and, ultimately, cures.”
