DEBRA UK lunch at The Beaumont hotel with HRH Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO

A group of people in formal attire smile warmly as they stand in an elegantly decorated room with polished floors and wooden panels, capturing the charm of the DEBRA lunch with HRH Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO.

Last week (Wednesday 20th November) we were delighted that our Royal Patron, HRH Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO, joined members of the DEBRA team, including our Vice Presidents, Graeme Souness CBE, Frank Warren, Lenore England, and Stuart Procter plus key supporters and others interested in the work of the charity at a lunchtime event at The Beaumont in London.

The event was an opportunity to provide an update on our drug repurposing programme, which our Royal Patron is fully supportive of, and included a passionate speech from our independent advisor, Professor Chris Griffiths OBE, where he reconfirmed the potential that drug repurposing has for EB and the how it could change lives for the better. Also, during the event, Dr Su Lwin, dermatologist and an honorary lecturer at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and King’s College London spoke to the guests in attendance about an exciting new EB research opportunity.

We would like to thank our Royal Patron for her continued support of the charity, our Vice President, Stuart Procter, and the team at The Beaumont for kindly hosting us, Professor Chris Griffiths OBE and Dr Su Lwin for their speeches, DEBRA members Michelle and Maya Spencer-Berkeley for sharing their lived experience of EB, and finally thanks to our Vice Presidents and guests who joined us. With your continued support we can ensure that in the future no one must suffer with EB.

At the DEBRA lunch, people gathered in a beautifully decorated room adorned with paintings and flower arrangements, engaging in lively conversation alongside HRH Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO.
