DEBRA-commissioned EB PSP study wins Best of Business Intelligence Award

We are pleased to share that the DEBRA UK commissioned 2025 EB Priority Setting Partnership (EB PSP) study, which followed the James Lind Alliance (JLA) research method, has won a prestigious industry award.
The study, which identified the research priorities for the global EB community, won the BOBI (Best of Business Intelligence) Award 2026 for Best Use of Innovation. BOBI Awards recognise excellence, innovation, and impact across healthcare business insights.
A key factor in the award win was the innovative approach that saw our research partners, Synergy Healthcare, lending their survey and information gathering expertise to the JLA research process which is widely recognised as a collaborative and methodologically rigorous way of setting research priorities and combining high-quality evidence review with meaningful involvement from those most affected by health conditions. Studies that follow the JLA research method help ensure that research investment is aligned with real-world needs rather than driven solely by academic or commercial interests. This is incredibly important to us as a charity we want to ensure that our research programme directly addresses the key needs of the EB community.
The EB PSP was also a UK first; Synergy Healthcare were the first UK market research agency to take part in the JLA process. The judges were particularly impressed that the study successfully brought together members of the global EB community, people living with and directly affected by all forms of EB, plus professionals working in the field of EB to give a 360 view. They were also impressed that the study provided a clear and needed explanation of the JLA process and was ultimately shared in the House of Commons.
Of course, we don’t undertake studies like this to win awards, but it is satisfying to know that a research study that we put a lot of work into and co-funded, has been so well received by industry experts.
We would like to thank Synergy Healthcare, the James Lind Alliance, our funding partners, and of course our members and the global EB community including the EB healthcare professionals who participated in the study. Without you this study wouldn’t have been possible and thanks to your contribution we now have a clear path forward for the research that the EB community needs the most.
