DEBRA 10th Anniversary Great Chefs Dinner 2025 raises over £240,000!

On Monday 29 September, we were delighted to welcome guests to DEBRA’s 10th Anniversary Great Chefs Dinner at The Langham, London. Since its inception in 2016, this remarkable event has raised over £1 million and showcased the talents of over thirty-five world-class chefs.

Michel Roux and Clare Smyth Headline a Star-Studded Chef Line-Up

The evening was once again hosted by Michel Roux, world-renowned chef and DEBRA Ambassador. Joining him for this milestone celebration was Clare Smyth MBE. Clare is the first and only British female chef to earn three Michelin stars – making the night even more unforgettable.

Guests enjoyed a champagne reception before being treated to a gastronomic feast: a six-course meal featuring a mixture of dishes from Clare’s restaurant ‘Core’ and Michele’s legendary ‘Le Gavroche.’

The evening’s proceedings were expertly guided by MC David Fitzgerald, who introduced speeches from DEBRA UK Chair of Trustees, Jim Irvine, and host, Michel Roux.

“For 10 years we’ve been holding the Great Chefs Dinner at The Langham and it is always a person highlight in my calendar; an event I’m honoured to take party in to support a truly worthwhile cause.” – Michel Roux

To mark Michel’s decade of dedication, Tony Byrne, CEO of DEBRA, presented him with a special gift alongside Benjamin Ng, General Manager of The Langham.

Inspiring Speeches from DEBRA Ambassadors

Guests were deeply moved by heartfelt speeches from DEBRA Ambassador, Lucy Beall, and DEBRA member, Grace Fincham. They both shared their personal experiences of living with EB. Grace’s words resonated with everyone in the room:

“I have always had butterfly wings, and DEBRA has helped me use them to fly.” – Grace Fincham

The evening continued with a live auction led by auctioneer Charlie Ross. This featured a standout item – a painting created live during the event by renowned expressionist Ben Moseley. Guests also participated in a silent auction and had the opportunity to gift a week’s stay in the DEBRA holiday home. Holiday homes offer families affected by EB a chance to rest, recharge, and create cherished memories.

Carly Fields, newly appointed Chair of Trustees at DEBRA, closed the event and thanked guests for their support of DEBRA.

Thank You to Our Sponsors, Chefs, and Supporters

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this event possible: our hosts at The Langham, the chefs and their teams, our generous sponsors and all who donated auction prizes and bid so generously. Their support helped to raise a record-breaking £240,000 for the EB community.

“A huge thank you to Michel, Chris King and The Langham London, as well as every chef and contributor from over the past 10 years for your generous contributions. We know many attended the event to help mark this special anniversary. From guests to hotel managers, sponsors and organising committees, we are truly grateful for your support.” – Tony Byrne, CEO, DEBRA
