DebRA runners raise an estimated £65,000 for charity at the 2008 Flora London Marathon
16 April 2008
A team of 33 runners raised an estimated total of £65,000 for the charity DebRA last Sunday 13th April by completing the Flora London Marathon. DebRA is the national charity that supports families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) - a rare genetic condition which causes the skin to blister and shear at the slightest friction, or even spontaneously. There are at least 5,000 people living with this devastating condition in the UK and 500,000 worldwide. The gruelling annual 26.2 mile run attracted over 35,000 competitors this year. Andrew Colville, Senior Events Manager at DebRA, said: “This was a tremendous event and we wish to thank everyone who took part in the Flora London Marathon and helped raise such an incredible amount of money for DebRA – their efforts will make a real difference to the lives of families living with EB.” DebRA organises a series of fundraising events throughout the year.
