DebRA MAD HATTER DAY - Friday May 5th, 2006
DebRA's first ever Mad Hatter Day was a great success, with around 150 schools, businesses and organisations across the UK becoming Mad Hatters for the day.
DebRA staff throughout the charity got in on the Mad Hatter act by donning their hats. As the photograph shows, those at the charity's head office in Berkshire were delighted to take part.
Staff in Bhs stores across the UK were also among the hundreds of people to don their hats on Friday May 5.
And the event was also supported by a number of Job Centres, police stations, hospital wards, schools, shops, salons, offices and community groups.
Mark Smith, DebRA's director of fundraising and communications, said he was delighted with the response.
He said: "I wore several hats on Mad Hatter Day and I was delighted to see so many other people taking part in the fun event.
"We are all looking forward to seeing photographs of the participants and hearing Mad Hatter stories from our supporters.
"Well done to everyone who took part - you helped to make DebRA's first Mad Hatter Day a great success."
You can still get your hands on your favourite celebrity's hat by bidding in the Celebrity Mad Hatter eBay Auction, which runs until Sunday May 21.
Hats belonging to Ewan McGregor, Alan Rickman, David Jason, Ant and Dec, Nell McAndrew and Kim Wilde are among those up for grabs.
