Toughest Arctic Challenge for DebRA
30 November 2005
February, 2006 Seven men from the North West will attempt the world's toughest ultra marathon, the 'Yukon Arctic Ultra'. 320 brutal miles across the frozen arctic north of Canada in temperatures as low as -50oC! The lads will not only have to put up with the freezing conditions and the thought of running at least 40 miles a day, but there is also the constant fear of disturbing the local grizzly bear, wolf or moose (which is allegedly the most dangerous!). They will sleep outside the whole time and be totally self-sufficient during the race. The lads have one aim, that is to raise as much money as possiible for research into effective treatments for EB and to raise awareness on behalf of DebRA. The BBC are going to be following the group's challenge and will be giving the lads a special video camera which can record in temperatures below 20oC. Please support these brave lads by sponsoring them today. Please go to www.justgiving.com/tent67
