Local TV and film stars take on Birmingham City Old Boys to raise money for DebRA
A celebrity football match in aid of DebRA took place at Atherstone FC on Sunday 21st October 2007. Organised with friends by Atherstone businessman Mark Garratt, whose son Matthew was born with EB, the football match saw cast members from Emmerdale, The Dream Team, Shameless and The Full Monty take on Birmingham City Old Boys.
Well over 600 people attended the match and nearly £2,500 was raised for DebRA.
Pictured left are Ben Freeman (Emmerdale) with Mikey Fisher (The Hands of God) Steven Nicholas (Dream Team), Antony Lewis (ex-Emmerdale) Marc Reynolds, William Snape, Roy Francis, Mark Ditch (Shameless), Luke Towning (Football Factory).
Pictured right is seven year-old Mack Eckersall pictured with Mikey Fisher, who stars in The Hands of God. A keen sportsman as well as actor, Mikey is also the Great Britain Freestyle Champion.
DebRA is very grateful to Mark, the teams, Atherstone FC, all the helpers and Chairman Dave Allen and his staff for organising this fantastic fundraising event.
