On Tuesday 24 January 2012, the popular medical drama series Holby City featured a story about a teenage girl with EB.

Royal Holloway, University of London, will be hosting a Rare Disease Day event on Wednesday 29 February 2012. Ruth McBain, DEBRA Regional Fundraising Manager (Southern) will be attending the event and DEBRA will be exhibiting there. Volunteers are urgently needed to provide support on the day and help raise awareness of EB and DEBRA.

The 34 Action for Children charity shops earmarked for closure in 2009 were saved after DEBRA agreed to take them over. Ten charities had competed to buy this operation and the negotiations took almost a year to complete. The transfer was completed in September 2009 for a small consideration, and 2 years on, most of the shops continue to perform well and have been a valuable addition to the charity's existing retail network.

DEBRA is planning to open 3 furniture and electrical stores in the coming months as part of our ambitious plans to expand our retail activity, driving forward a new business model to increase revenue.
